These guides explain the critical role Medicare and Medicaid have come to play in the lives and the futures of roughly 20 million children, adults, and seniors with disabilities - and give people with disabilities new information to help them get the most from these programs.

The U.S. Conference of Mayors, a nonpartisan organization for cities over 30,000, represents over 1100 U.S. cities. At their 2005 national conference in Chicago, the mayors passed a Visitability Resolution.

This could prove useful as a tool for your advocacy in your locale. The resolution came about through Karen Tamley, the new Commissioner of Disability for the City of Chicago, who's also a founding member of the Disability Rights Action Coalition for Housing (DRACH) and longtime Visitability proponent. She urged Chicago Mayor Daley to introduce the legislation and he did. Two additional important disability-delated resolutions passed supporting assistance at home (MI CASSA and Money Follows the Person) rather than the current bias toward nursing homes as the predominant option.

To see a copy of the Visitability resolution, go to the Concrete Change website.

As a business owner or operator, or someone thinking about opening a business, you may have wondered what you have to do to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).  This course explains how the ADA applies to businesses in ten short lessons.  Putting these lessons into practice will allow you to comply with the ADA and welcome a whole new group of customers to purchase your goods, products, and services.  And you may find that making your business more accessible and welcoming to people with disabilities is not as difficult as you thought.

To make this course easier to fit into your busy schedule, it is divided into individual lesson modules.  You may go though the lessons at your own pace and as your time allows. As you progress through the course, you will find links to additional information, but you can also access a wealth of information by visiting the ADA Website at
www.ada.gov, if you have questions about a specific situation.
To visit the course go to
